AH Anchor: Minnie Driver gets to kiss the guy in her new movie, even if he is married to actress Tea Leoni in real life . . . It is called Return to Me, and we were on the set as Minnie and David Duchovny got through the toughest jobs as actors. Bonnie Hunt, directing: You kiss her. (shots of David & Minnie kissing over and over again in the bowling alley; almost identical to what was used before.) (Minnie does a little strut down the alley) AH: Nice work if you can get it. Locking lips with another attractive actor sounds like a dream job. But as we witnessed on the set of Return to Me, you have to do it take after take after take. Minnie Driver: We do it on a closed set, obviously, and we make the whole crew get naked . . .(smiles) you know, it's fine, it's fine. He's very gentle with me. AH: This poignant scene set in a Chicago bowling alley, is the first time David, a recently widowed architect, goes public with his affection for Minnie, the new love of his life. David: I'd like to dedicate this next shot to Grace. AH: While this movie marks the first X-Files stars first shot as carrying a big screen romance, don't expect him to steam up the screen. (shots of David bowling, them prepping the set, etc. etc.) David: This movie is very kind of chaste, and very innocent. So there's not like sex, like you're used to seeing in films. And what you see here, these little kisses, is really all you're gonna get. AH: Co-written and directed by actress Bonnie Hunt, the cast also features a talented cast of comedians: Carrol O'Conner, James Belushi and David Alan Grier; a touch that's clearly rubbing off on Duchovny. (David holding David Alan Grier around his neck and pretending to bash his head into the camera) David AG: This is what I have to put up with all day; all day. (in a mimicking voice) You know, in the X-Files, we'd never do this. In the X-Files, it'd be spookier. AH: David's on the set antics didn't stop there. During our interview with Bonnie Hunt, eh kept walking in front of the camera and at one point pretended to be her makeup artist. (David walks very slowly past the camera; David wears a pair of black sunglasses and pretends to be blind with a prop as his 'cane'. Comes up to Bonnie Hunt with a powder puff.) David: You look a little shiny. Bonnie Hunt: (extending her face for him) Thank you honey. He's involved in all aspects just in case it doesn't work out for him. If this thing tanks, he hopes to go forward doing makeup. That's a transcript of the interesting stuff - I left out a touch of AH rambling, but that's the gist. :)
